Faculty of Political Science

The USSH-FPS is the first training organization in Politics in the undergradate training system of Vietnam. Its predecessor was the Department of Political Science, which was established on October 24, 1995 as part of VNU-USSH. In 2011, USSH upgraded the Department to the FPS.
Organizational structure
After 25 years of development, presently, there are three departments at the Faculty, namely the Departments of Politics, the Departments of Ho Chi Minh Studies, and the Departments of Media Politics, with a 22-person academic staff including 3 associate professors, 9 doctors, 6 PhD candidates, 3 masters, and 1 bachelor.
The Faculty now has more than 40 lecturers who are professors, associate professors, doctors (with high qualifications, experiences, and reputation from research institutes, domestic and foreign universities), political activists, and managers directly involving the FPS's training and scientific research activities.
The FPS has been educating these following programmes: the Programme of Bachelor in Politics, the Master‟s Programme in Politics (application oriented), the Master‟s 14 Programme in Politics (research oriented), the Master‟s Programme in Ho Chi Minh Studies, the Doctoral Program in Politics, and the Doctoral Program in Ho Chi Minh Studies.
In addition, the Faculty also operates a number of short-term training courses for those who need knowledge and skills in some specific fields: the training program for the in Ho Chi Minh‟s thought, the programme for advancing knowledge in politics, the Program on Religion and Rule of Law (in cooperation with Brigham Young University (USA), from 2012 to the end of 2018).
This Faculty has offered formal training for 398 bachelors, 295 masters, and 47 PhDs. Currently, the number of people studying at the faculty is 205 undergraduate students, 31 Masters students, 47 PhD candidates.
Scientific research
The scientific research activities of the FPS mainly focus on political theory, Ho Chi Minh‟s thought, politics of Vietnam, international politics, Media Politics, comparative politics.
The results of research projects at all levels (grassroots, ministerial, and state levels) chaired by the FPS staff have had positive impacts on the society. The typical projects are:
          State-level project: Religion in the socialist rule-of-law and secular state in Vietnam, coded KX.04.19/11-15.
        State-level project: The History of Vietnam, volume XIV (1858-1884), coded KHXH-LSVN/14-18, 2018.
          State-level research: The History of Vietnam, volume XXV (2001-2015), coded KHXH-LSVN/14-18, 2018.
       State-level project: Studying and proposing solutions and models for capacity improvement of the grassroots political system in some key Northwest areas. Coded KHCNTB.15X/13-18, 2017.

Domestic cooperation
The Faculty has been cooperating with the following universities and institutes: Vietnam National University HCM City (VNU-HCM), Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Academy of Social Sciences, Academy of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH-VNU-HCM), Saigon University, Ha Tinh University, Hanoi University of Home Affairs, National Academy of Public Administration, Political Academy of Ministry of Defense, and Political Academy of Ministry of Public Security.
International cooperation
The FPS has been cooperating with: Brigham Young University (USA), University of Connecticut (USA), Stockholm University (Sweden), Heinrich Heine Dusseldorf University (Germany), Justus-Liegig Giessen University (Germany), Taiwan National University, Ubon University (Thailand), Institute of Asian and African Studies - Lomonosov Moscow National University (Russia), Far East Institute - Russian Academy of Sciences.
Faculty has organized and co-organized a number of international conferences in Vietnam and abroad, with many partners around the world: Heinrich Heine Dussseldorf University, Justus-Liebig Giessen University (Germany), 2018; J. Reuben Clark Law School - Brigham Young University (USA), 2019; Institute for Asian and African Studies - Lomonosov Moscow National University (Russia), 2019.

Policy on quality improvement
           Following learners-centered approach, taking teachers as the driving force in training and scientific research activities;
        Regularly evaluating and renewing training programs, contents of textbooks and lectures; applying active teaching methods to improve the quality of training and students‟ scientific research capacity;
          Attaching importance to building a contingent of qualified lecturers, administrative staff and managers to meet the need of training high-quality human resources for the society;
            Creating a favorable environment for learners to freely develop their creative abilities; Periodically reviewing and improving management methods in order to enhance operation quality
